Play Based Learning

Students at Musselburgh School benefit from Play Based Learning approaches. "Learning through play is a pedagogical approach where play is the valued mode of learning – where children can explore, experiment, discover, and solve problems in imaginative and playful ways. Learning through play is also called play-based learning."  -TKI.org.nz

Students participate in Play Based Learning in their junior years at Musselburgh. Teachers create a classroom environment with diverse interest areas that offer rich play opportunities. They build play opportunities around student’s prior knowledge and interests, participate in meaningful learning conversations with children that stretch their thinking and facilitate social interactions among children in their class.
