 Musselburgh School is a primary school catering for children from Year 1 to Year 6.

Musselburgh School prides itself in being a safe, friendly place where children feel happy and secure while enjoying the best in teaching and learning.

Our aim is to promote a quality learning atmosphere by providing your child with programmes that are rich in a variety of exciting experiences and stimulates your child’s passion for learning.  Our teachers give your child every opportunity to develop their strengths and skills so they can be the best they can be.

Musselburgh School Values

 Musselburgh School has positive, nurturing and hardworking teachers, who have an excellent knowledge of the curriculum and are skilled at delivering effective programmes.

  • Musselburgh School has developed its own values.   Each term values are shared with the whole school community.   Students are encouraged to live the values each day in all they do.  Our values we focus on are: Be respectful, be responsible, Be Kind and Be a Learner.
  • Musselburgh School provides a balanced curriculum including written language, reading, mathematics, spelling, handwriting, science, music, drama, health, physical education, social sciences, dance, visual arts, Te reo and tikanga Māori and the use ICT tools to support learning..

 Musselburgh School prides itself on our extensive range of resources, including:

  • a well stocked library to encourage reading.
  • a wide range of instructional readers to support our literacy programme.
  • computers in every class, two laptop pods, two pods of tablets, over 30 i-pads, green screed technology and camera and video pods that are used to provide your child with valuable skills for the future.
  • well-appointed play areas including three adventure playgrounds and a covered sandpit. We also have a bike track, imaginative play spaces and tunnels being built.
  • comprehensive range of maths resources to support our numeracy programme.
Physical & Cultural

 Musselburgh School is an attractive, safe environment with plenty of outdoor space.

Musselburgh School has a wide range of sports teams, with a physical education programme aimed to provide skills, enjoyment and a healthy attitude.  This includes swimming and aquatic lessons at Moana Pool.

Musselburgh School provides a Perceptual Motor Programme (PMP) for junior children. Play as the way is also being used as a tool to build social, emotional and physical skills.

Musselburgh School has a choir, a marimba band and an instrumental music programme which promotes the ukulele..

Education outside the classroom

 Musselburgh School participates in a biannual senior school camp for social and outdoor activities.  In the alternate year the children participate in a variety of outdoor recreational activities including cycle skills, sailing, ice-skating, tramping, abseiling etc

Musselburgh School Senior School visits the Puketeraki Marae in Karitane annually.

Musselburgh School grows an edible garden, which provides learning opportunities for our children and local community.
